an interview with lexi naone: pr queen

for my interview assignment this week, i was super excited to be able to talk to one of my good friends, lexi naone. a recent UO PR grad, who just moved to hawaii to work in the field and influencer marketing.

introduce yourself!!

Lexi Naone, I’m from Portland, OR and I work at a full-service agency in Honolulu, HI.

what’s your official job title?

Public Relations Assistant Account Executive.

what did you study in college?

I studied PR at UofO

how did you decide that was what you wanted to do?

I’ve always loved working and helping out with events, and putting that together with how interested I was with the way social media was so rapidly changing, I knew PR was the best option for me to combine all of my passions in one.

what’s the best thing about your job?

I think the best part right now, is seeing how my clients are succeeding. I work on a non-profit account and I’ve seen them help pass some pretty incredible bills in the state of Hawaii. With my hotel clients, I’m working with influencers to create content to help promote our properties all over the world and it’s crazy to see the engagement from countries like Australia and Japan. Especially after the crazy last 2.5 years.

what has been your favorite campaign or assignment you’ve worked on?

So far my favorite campaign is one we’re working on right now. One of our hotel properties is collaborating with a bikini brand to create a limited-edition branded bikini. It’s fun to be a part of the whole process from start to finish and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

what advice would you give to people who want to work in the industry?

I think most importantly, be excited and eager to take on work. While it can be hectic (like how I feel right now), I’m being introduced to things and projects I never thought I would have any interest in. And of course be yourself, I think going through the interview process with my agency last year, the best thing I did was stay to true to myself and honest because I’m on a team where I feel valued and it makes it so much easier to join a new team and build strong, close connections.

favorite influencer or brand at the moment?

That’s a hard question lol. Brand and hotel wise I love The Good Time Hotel in Miami, my coworker and I are trying to achieve that kind of vibe for one of our clients right now. And for influencers… I have so many it’s hard to pick, but I really like Amber Mozo’s vibe.

so grateful to talk to a friend who works in the field! i cant wait to see what the future holds for lexi.
